| CLEARIMAGE REPAIR SPECIFICATION |
Remove Noise
(Despeckle) |
Detects noise as objects whose size is less than the specified limit
 Removes the noise objects
|
| Automatic Deskew |
Detects image or zone skew within a ± 45° range to the nearest
horizontal or vertical axis. Larger angular changes are handled by
 Automatic Rotation operation
Skew is measured using text and line objects in the image
Sets whole image skew to 0°
 Measurement resolution ± 0.1°
 Minimum deskew angle ± 0.2>°
Maximum angle to preserve image size ± 10°
|
| Automatic Rotation |
Detects image or zone rotation as 0, 90°, 180° or 270°
Rotation is measured using Latin text and line objects in the image
Sets whole image rotation to 0° - right side up
|
| Resize Page |
Sets image size to a standard office document size, such as (Letter, Legal,
Engineering B, or ISO A4, etc)
Set image to Custom Size - Specify size and units: cm, inch, pixels
Orientation - specify where the image will be placed in the new page
|
Is Blank Image
(Detect Blank Page) |
Analyzes the image and returns an answer of Blank or Not Blank
Analysis ignores all objects in the margins
For images less than 5" the margin is 0"
For images between 5" and 7" the margin is 0.5"
For images greater than 7" the margin is 1"
The analysis ignores all objects smaller than 5x5 pixels as noise
One object less than 0.5"x0.5" is allowed and will be ignored
If there are any remaining objects then image is Not Blank
|
| Automatic Crop |
Detects image existing left, top, right, bottom margins (in pixels)
 Removes existing margins
Sets new left, top, right, bottom margins (in pixels)
Positive Crop = white border around outside of the contents
Negative Crop = new image is smaller than the contents, has no border
|
| Clean Borders |
Preferred one-step operation to clean up scanned images
Reconstructs original document using image borders
Detects the black border area and the skew angle of inside edge
Removes the borders, and set border area pixels to white
Deskews the resulting image based on the border angle
Crops Removed border area from deskewed image
|
| Clear Background |
Convert all pixels whose grayscale value is less than specified to white
Specify value on a scale of 0=white and 100=black.
|
Invert
(Negative to Positive) |
Automatically invert "negative" white on black images to "positive"
Detects percentage of black pixels on the image
Inverts the image, if the percentage exceeds the specified threshold
|
| Remove Punch Holes |
Detects punch holes in proximity to the image edge
 Removes the punch holes
|
| Remove Halftone |
Detects halftone areas with uniform medium black pixel density.
Removes pixels forming the halftone area
|
| Automatic Registration |
Moves the image contents to the top left corner
Detects image existing left, top margins (in pixels)
 Removes existing margins
Sets new left, top margins (in pixels). Preserves image size.
|
| Smooth Characters |
Detects black and white single pixels at the edges of image objects
Remove such pixels to smooth the object shape
|
| Delete Lines |
Detects horizontal and/or vertical line, based on the filter criteria of:
 Minimum line length in pixels
Maximum line break (interval) size in pixels
Maximum skew angle (maximum value is 5.0°)
 Amount of line curvature
Deletes detected lines that match the criteria
|
| Delete Lines and Repair |
Same operations as Delete Lines, except that it also reconstructs text
characters and other objects to close the void left by the removed line
|
| Remove Fax Header |
Detects fax header elements at the very top of the document image, of
consistent size and occupying a single fax scan line
 Delete these objects
|
| Convert Fax Resolution from Standard to Fine |
 Detects fax standard resolution images
Doubles the lines and interpolates line transitions to smooth transitions
Not applicable to color and grayscale images
|
| Reconstruct Lines |
Detects horizontal and/or vertical lines, filtered on basis of:
 Minimum length in pixels
Maximum line break size in pixels
Maximum skew angle (maximum value is 5.0°)
 Amount of line curvature
 Measures geometry of detected lines
 Deletes detected lines
Reconstructs intersected text characters and objects
Draws straight, smooth lines in place of the deleted lines
Not applicable to color and grayscale images
